There are some eye-catching fixtures this weekend and a number of top players are either suspended or injured, offering you the opportunity (or headache) to play around with your team and make changes accordingly.
Newcastle and Leeds get Gameweek 5 underway at St James’ Park on Friday night and with both sides still looking for their first win, and it could be a good fixture to get some early points on the board. Michail Antonio is suspended this week for picking up a red card in his last outing, but it's only a one-game ban, so remember that before you sub him out for the week.
With that, here are four players to pick for your FPL team for gameweek 5.
Diogo Jota - £7.7m - Crystal Palace
Jota is listed as a midfielder on FPL despite being Liverpool's first-choice striker, and is a cheaper option than Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane. At the time of writing, 20.7 percent of managers have Jota in their FPL teams. Liverpool are up against Palace followed by Brentford before facing Manchester City, but Jota offers the opportunity to grab points across all three games.
Ferran Torres - £7.2m - Southampton
Torres has started each of Manchester City's opening four games and ranks fourth among FPL midfielders for both shots (14) and xG (2.15). He has been a huge target for managers following his two goals and one assist in the 5-0 win over Arsenal in gameweek 3. He produced a career-high score of 20 points in his final start of 2020/21, netting a hat-trick against Newcastle United in Gameweek 36.
Raphinha - £6.5m - Newcastle United
Raphinha has fired 11 shots and created seven chances so far this season as Marcelo Bielsa's side still look for their first win of the new season. Leeds are up against Newcastle, who have been among the worst sides defensively in the opening four Gameweeks, conceding at least twice in each of their matches.
Cristiano Ronaldo - £12.5m - West Ham
Ronaldo is one of the most-bought player this term, earning over 3.07 million transfers in. The Portuguese visits West Ham United on the back of a 13-point haul against Newcastle United last weekend, and is a strong captain pick for gameweek 5. Ronaldo's teammate Bruno Fernandes has four goals from his first four games and could also be considered for the captain armband.
