Football fans on social media have shockingly labelled Sergio Ramos as "overrated" following the defender's news that he will be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the month.

It was announced officially earlier this week that the 35-year-old will be exiting the Santiago Bernabeu after 16 years at the club after failing to agree on a new deal with Los Blancos.

The Spaniard is considered as one of the best defenders in the world, however, some fans have taken to social media to dismiss the idea that Ramos can be considered as the "GOAT" despite his successes.

One supporter even claimed that a prime Gerard Pique was better than a prime Ramos, despite the latter lifting an impressive 22 trophies, which included five LaLiga titles and four Champions League trophies.

However, the Madrid icon admitted that he would back at the club in a different capacity in the future.

"This is not a goodbye, it's a see you later," Ramos said at his press conference. "Because I will be back."
