Paris Saint-Germain star, Angel Di Maria was substituted midway during the club's game against Nantes on Sunday, in order to to rush back home where his family had been held hostage during a robbery, as per ESPN.

The report goes on to state that another PSG player in Marquinhos also had his parents' house targeted by intruders during the match and just like Di Maria, his parents were present at home at the time and were also held hostage by the intruders.

Di Maria was substituted by PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino just after the hour mark after he had been informed by sporting director, Leonardo of the bad news - with Pochettino then revealing the situation to the Argentina international while walking him back to the dressing room.

The 33-year-old was seen visibly upset and was reported to have rushed back home on hearing the news, with it also being understood that the police have opened an investigation and the club will offer their full support to the two players and their families.

This is not the first time that Di Maria has been targeted by thieves, with the winger going through a similar experience while playing for Manchester United in 2015. He and his family were were the victims of an attempted raid by burglars at the time.
