Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho has hinted that Real Madrid could be the reason for Gareth Bale's slow start to the season while reiterating that he is growing tired of questions about the Welshman.
Bale returned back to north London on a season-long loan from Madrid and after barely getting on the pitch during the Los Blancos title-winning 2019-20 season, and Mourinho believes that the 31-year-old needed extra-time to get back to his best after sitting for so long on the sidelines.
“Gareth again! Maybe he does not play tomorrow and every question is about Gareth! Come on! Just because he scored two goals! Come on!. For the past two years, he had what he had in Madrid. Ask them. Maybe if they answer you, you can understand better why he took a while. Maybe to be patient was the main reason for him to reach the level he showed in the last couple of weeks," Mourinho told reporters.
Bale has managed to make only 20 appearances so far this season, but has still scored eight goals while also registering three assists - with the Welshman showing signs that he is back to his best during Tottenham's 4-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League last weekend.
