Portugal midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has hailed his country's skipper and talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo - but has insisted that the most valuable player in the team is "we" and not "I".
Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with the 36-year-old breaking a number of records during his storied his career. The striker who has netted 106 goals for his country, is close to breaking another record as he is just three behind Iran's, Ali Daei in the all-time international goalscoring stakes.
While he is no doubt Portugal's greatest ever player, Fernandes believes that team spirit and unity comes before an individual.
"Ronaldo is influential, as always. He is another one who wants to do his best and is making a difference. The most valuable player in the national team is the 'we'. The 'we' is the most important, there are many Is, but the 'us' is what counts," he told reporters.
Portugal started their 2020 Euro campaign in the best possible way, beating Hungary 3-0 in their opening Group F game and they would look to take that confidence going into their second game against Germany - which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 19 June at the Allianz Arena.
