Netherlands as a country have given us a number of top players throughout their history in football, with the current batch being tipped as the dark horses to win the ongoing 2020 European Championship.

Here, we take a look at the five most valuable Dutch players participating in Euro 2020.

1. Frenkie de Jong - €90m

One of the best young midfielders in the world, Frenkie de Jong was snapped by Barcelona who beat a host of top European clubs for his signature in 2019.

After a mixed debut season at the Nou Camp, the 24-year-old proved his mettle last campaign, scoring seven goals and registering eight assists in all competitions.

The midfielder is one of the best players in the Netherlands squad and he has started the tournament brightly by excelling in their opening day win.

2. Matthijs de Ligt - €75m

Another young Dutch player who was courted by a number of top sides was Matthijs de Ligt, who chose to move to Juventus in the summer of 2019. Since then he has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Serie A, and at only 21-years-old - he will be expected to be the rock at the back for them for atleast a decade.

The centre-back missed Netherlands opening game due to injury and remains a doubt for their second game.

3. Stefan de Vrij - €50m

A defensive rock for both club and country, Stefan de Vrij played an important role in Inter Milan's 2020/21 Serie A title win and in Virgil van Dijk's absence is a crucial cog in the Netherlands side.

He was not at his best in their 3-2 win over Ukraine, but will be expected to step up and marshall the defence as the tournament progresses.

4. Memphis Depay - €45m

Memphis Depay struggled at Manchester United, but ever since he moved to France - he has shown why he is so highly rated, becoming Lyon's talisman and best player.

The Dutchman was brilliant last season too before suffering injury, scoring 22 goals and registering 12 assists in all competitions.

5. Ryan Gravenberch - €33m

A youngster who is quietly making waves in Holland is Ryan Gravenberch, who has been brilliant as a holding midfielder for Ajax over the past couple of seasons.

The 19-year-old only made his international debut in 2021 and since then has made sure that he remains first choice when picking the XI.
