Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland has revealed that he was inspired by Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick heroics against Barcelona following his own brace which helped his club beat Sevilla 3-2 in the Champions League round of 16 first leg clash on Wednesday.
Mbappe showed his class by putting Barcelona to the sword to all but put his side into the quarter-finals of the competition and on Wednesday, it was Haaland's turn to grab the headlines by ensuring that he stays in the discussion of the best young strikers in the world.
The 20-year-old admitted after the game that Mbappe's heroics against Barcelona inspired him before Dortmund's game vs Sevilla.
"It was good to score goals. I love the Champions League and when I saw Mbappe score the hat-trick yesterday I got free motivation, so thanks to him. He scored some nice goals and I got a good boost from him," he told Viaplay.
Haaland's performances for Dortmund have led to a number of top European clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester City reportedly expressing an interest in signing him, with it being understood that any such move will depend on whether the German side qualify for the Champions League next season.
