East Bengal are set to make Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler their new head coach ahead of the Indian Super League season 7, according to Goal.
East Bengal, who were announced to have joined ISL, are reported to have begun the discussions with Fowler close to three weeks back.
The 43-year-old began his coaching career with Thai side Muangthong United in the 2011-12 season. He was named their player-manager in the middle of the season, and the former England international helped The Kirins or The Twin Qilins to a third-place finish that season.
During his career as a professional footballer, he has played for a number of top clubs, including Liverpool, Leeds United, Manchester City. Having scored 163 goals in the English top-flight, Fowler is the seventh-highest goalscorer in the history of Premier League. With 183 goals to his name, he is also the third in the list of all-time goalscorers for Liverpool.
With the Liverpool legend all set to join East Bengal as has been reported, it will be interesting to see how he guides the Red and Gold Brigade, who have joined Indian Super League, next season.
