Ligue 1 side, Troyes' centre-back, Adil Rami has made a huge claim, revealing that it is easier to defend against record six-time Ballon d'Or award winner, Lionel Messi now than it was in the past.
Rami who played for the likes of Valencia and AC Milan in the past, came across Messi 12 times in Spain but has a poor record against him as he has never recorded a single victory in those encounters.
"Granted, I never won, but there were draws and [chuckling] I got four or five shirts from him. He was too strong, back then he was always behind my back. He'd be offside and then he would move back to touch the halfway line and then go again," Rami told Ligue 1's website.
"Now he's more of a passer, so it's easier for defenders as we can wait. I don't think he's able to do his slalom moves so much."
Messi who moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer earlier in the summer from Barcelona, has not had the best of starts to life in Paris, managing only a solitary goal in his five appearances so far.
The 36-year-old however did score his debut goal with a screamer against Manchester City to lead the club to a 2-0 win in the Champions League. It will be interesting to see whether the superstar can pick up his form and lead PSG to their maiden Champions League honour come the end of the season.
