There are a number of top players currently playing the sport of football around the world, though there are very few that could be considered as great players, with a majority of them representing top clubs in Europe.

Here, we take a look at the five most valuable players aged 30 years and older.

1. Kevin De Bruyne - Age 30 - Value: €90m

Kevin De Bruyne is without doubt the best midfielder in the world at moment, and completely deserves to be on top of this list when it comes to transfer value.

The 30-year-old has been brilliant for Belgium and Manchester City over time, and while he is not having the best of seasons due to injury issues - there is no doubt that when he is on the field, the team plays better.

2. Lionel Messi - Age 34 - Value: €60m

Widely considered to be the best player in the history of the sport, Lionel Messi continues to shine on the pitch despite being 34-years-old. The striker consistently tops every chart and while life at Paris Saint-Germain has not started as expected - one should not be surprised to see him topping the goalscoring charts once again.

3. Virgil van Dijk - Age 30 - Value: €55m

Considered by many to be the best defender in the world, Virgil van Dijk completely revolutionised Liverpool on his arrival in January 2018, quickly establishing himself as the club's talisman.

The Dutchman who is currently 30-years-old spent almost nine months on the sidelines after suffering an injury in October 2020, with the defender looking like his usual brilliant self on return.

4. N'Golo Kante - Age 30 - Value: €50m

Hailed by almost everyone who has either played with him or managed him, N'Golo Kante is known for his defensive work rate and his willingness to give everything for his team.

The 30-year-old has played a key role in all of the success that France and Chelsea have enjoyed in recent times.

5. Robert Lewandowski - Age 33 - Value: €50m

Robert Lewandowski has established himself as the best striker in the world over the past three years or so, with many believing that he deserved to win the 2021 Ballon d'Or award.

The striker has netted a staggering 325 goals in just 355 appearances for Bayern Munich and does not seem to be stopping anytime soon despite being 33-years-old.
