Bayern Munich defender David Alaba's agent has denied reports the Austrian has reached a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona over a summer move.

Alaba's contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season and he has ready confirmed he will leave the Bundesliga outfit in the summer.

He has already attracted the transfer interest of several top European clubs, with Real Madrid considered the favourites to sign the highly-rated defender.

However, rumours of a move to Madrid's arch-rivals Barcelona intensified after AS claimed Joan Laporta had met with Alaba's agent prior to the announcement he would become the new president of the Blaugrana. Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claimed Alaba had reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona.

Alaba's agent Pini Zahavi has, however, denied any agreement with the Catalan outfit, telling Goal and SPOX: "That's not true."

It will be interesting to see which club Alaba will join in the summer, with several Premier League clubs, PSG and Juventus also said to be interested in the 28-year-old.

Alaba is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world and should Barcelona manage to sign him on a free transfer, he will, no doubt, be able to bolster the La Liga giants' defensive department.
