Cristiano Ronaldo has named the overhead kick goal he scored for Real Madrid against his current employers Juventus in the Champions League 2017/18 season as the best and the favourite goal of his career.
It was in the quarter-final first-leg that Ronaldo stunned the world with one of the greatest goals Champions League has ever seen.
Real Madrid were leading the game 1-0, thanks to Ronaldo's goal in the 3rd minute of the match, and the Portuguese superstar doubled their tally on 64 minutes.
Marcelo sent what seemed a hopeful cross into the box, but a miscommunication between Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini saw things take a turn for the worse for the Old Lady. Chiellini's clearance took the ball away Buffon, and Ronaldo, from the byline, teed it up for Lucas Vazquez. But, the Spaniard's shot was saved by Buffon. Then, Dani Carvajal subsequently sent a cross into the box. Ronaldo rose high and struck it so impeccably and imperiously, Buffon could only watch it go in.
It was so good that it earned him a standing ovation from Juventus fans in Turin. And, now Ronaldo has named the goal as the best and the favourite of his career.
Speaking as an Official Global Brand Ambassador for LiveScore said [via Mirror]: "As you know, I have scored 777 goals in my career. It is a bit unlucky but unfortunately, I have to mention that I scored my favourite ever goal against my current team Juventus F.C. [his overhead kick goal in the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final 2018] and past my great friend Gianluigi Buffon!
"I would say that is my best and favourite goal that I’ve ever scored in my career."
