Manchester United icon, Cristiano Ronaldo could reportedly ask to "leave the club" if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season following the Red Devils' poor run of results in the recent past.

Ronaldo who returned to Old Trafford after 12 years amid huge fanfare has been in brilliant form for the club, scoring nine goals in 12 appearances in all competitions - but that has not been enough to stop the Red Devils from losing six of their last 12 games.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table with 17 points from 11 games, five points behind fourth placed, Liverpool and Express reports that the 36-year-old could look to leave the club if they finish outside the top four and fail to win the Champions League.

Red Devils manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under fire for his side's poor performances, with it also being reported that a number of United players are understood to be frustrated with the Norwegian's tactics on the pitch.

Ronaldo for his part is said to be shocked at how far standards have slipped at the club, while the senior players are reported to be fed up after a series of poor performances which has seen them lose meekly to rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City in the recent past.
