Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first person to amass 400m followers on Instagram

Footballing superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with the striker winning numerous professional and individual honours during his career, including five Ballon d'Or awards.
Ronaldo is without doubt the most popular sports athlete in the world across all disciplines and the 37-year-old recently broke another record off the field, becoming the first individual to surpass more than 400million followers on social networking site, Instagram.
His followers has grown exponentially in the recent past considering that as of September 2021, he had 237million followers, and with 3242 posts, he has an average of 10 million 'likes' for each one and only follows 500 users.
Kylie Jenner comes second in the rankings with over 308million followers, with long-term rival, Lionel Messi sitting in third with 306million. British broadcaster Piers Morgan congratulated the striker on reaching the mark, sharing a picture with himself and the Manchester United forward on Twitter.

Ronaldo who returned to Manchester United last summer, has been his usual brilliant self in front of goal despite the club's struggles on the pitch, scoring 14 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions so far.
