Manchester United are reported to have convinced "Colombian Cristiano Ronaldo", Porto superstar Luis Diaz to join them ahead of arch-rivals Liverpool.

The winger has been one of the best performers in Portugal of the past few months, especially the way in which he is direct in his gameplay.

Liverpool are said to see him as a direct successor to Sadio Mane in the long-term, but the Reds haven't taken any decision on him despite losing players to the African Cup of Nations.

This indecision will probably lead to them losing the player with Portuguese outlet O Jogo  stating their northwestern rivals Manchester United are ready to move for the player.

United have no shortage of attacking options with Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes in their team along with newcomer Anthony Elanga.

However, there are going to be multiple big name departures, including Cavani, Lingard and Martial expected at the club which could free finances for them for January, as well as the summer.

Diaz, meanwhile, could fit in on both sides of Manchester United's wings and at 24-years-old, could lead the position for years to come.

The Colombian star has scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 28 appearances this season to help Porto gain top spot in the Portuguese league standings.

Clubs like Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are already scouting him, which means United have to make a move in this month itself if they are to beat rivals for Diaz's signature.
