Former Manchester United defender Clayton Blackmore has urged the Red Devils to keep Paul Pogba at the club, insisting there are not many better midfielders than the Frenchman.

Pogba has entered the final year of his contract with Man Utd, and the 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Premier League side this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen to sign Pogba, while both Juventus and Real Madrid had previously been credited with an interest in the midfielder.

Man Utd run the risk of losing Pogba for free in 2022 if he does not agree to a contract renewal, and they could be forced into selling him this summer.

But, Blackmore thinks Man Utd should keep Pogba, who is a 'world-class player'. "If I was the manager then I'd be looking to try and keep him because he's a world-class player," Blackmore told Goal, in an interview conducted on behalf on BonusFinder.

"He's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me he makes things happen when he's on the pitch.

"I don't think the press he gets helps. They've reported that PSG want him which I don't think is true and if I was Ole [Gunnar Solskjer], I would be wanting to keep him for as long as possible because there aren't many better midfielders in the world."
