One of the Premier League's top six club is reportedly considering triggering the €50m release clause of Barcelona midfielder Gavi.

The 17-year-old has broken into the first team at Camp Nou and also impressed for Spain at national level. With his current contract set to expire in 2023, a number of clubs have expressed an interest in the youngster, and El Nacional claim that Chelsea are interested in signing the midfielder.

The report claims that Roman Abramovich is reportedly a huge fan of Gavi and views him as a potential star, and wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues currently have Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic as their starting options in midfield, but Thomas Tuchel is keen on adding Gavi to his squad, given his young age.

The report also adds that Barca are keen to have Gavi commit his future to the club, and his new release clause will be over €900m, if he does sign a new contract.

Gavi started in Spain's 1-0 win over Sweden on Sunday as Luis Enrique's side booked their place at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Speaking after the game, the national team coach paid tribute to his performance, saying: "If I decide to bring Gavi is because I believe I know him and because he can do good things. And he has played a spectacular game in front of 50,000 fans."
