Spurs sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday following a disappointing run of results, with last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Manchester United being the last straw. Tottenham have now lost five of their last seven league games and were quick to appoint former Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter boss, Conte.
The Italian has signed a deal until 2023 with an option to extend. And while Spurs' fans are delighted with the appointment, Chelsea icon Desailly couldn't help himself on Instagram. The former defender took a dig at Spurs following Conte's appointment.
The 53-year-old posted a picture of former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho alongside Conte with the caption: "They pay you to come, then pay you to leave... and you don't even have to win anything. It's incredible!!"
In a statement on the club's official website, Conte said: "I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again. Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world.
"I can't wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach."
