Cesc Fabregas has insisted Lionel Messi is 'very happy' at Paris Saint-Germain despite a slow start to life in the French capital.
Messi joined PSG on a free transfer in the summer after Barcelona announced they could not give the Argentine a new contract, signing a two-year contract with option for another year.
Messi has not had the best of the starts at PSG, scoring just once in his five appearances so far the Ligue 1 outfit. But, Fabregas, who is a friend and former teammate of Messi, insists the 34-year-old is happy at PSG.
"He's very happy. There are a lot of players he knows already and who speak Spanish. He's very happy, of course," Fabregas told Prime Video Sport [via AS].
Fabregas also opened up on Messi's exit from Barcelona in the summer, revealing the 34-year-old had told him while on holiday that he was close to signing new contract at the Catalan outfit. The midfielder, who currently plays for AS Monaco, also said he is happy to be able to against Messi this season.
"I was on holiday with him a week earlier, and he told me he was close to signing for Barcelona and he was due to start training the following week," Fabregas said.
He added: "Five days later, he told me it wasn't possible and that the club had told him to leave. I was very sad because I'm his friend and I'm a Barcelona fan. But now, I'm happy to be able to play against him this season."
