Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas and former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand led the praises for Mason Mount, who assisted Kai Havertz's winner in the Champions League final against Manchester City with a sensational through ball.

Chelsea stunned Man City 1-0 to become the champions of Europe, and Mount, who has arguably been the Blues best player this season, delivered on the biggest stage by assisting the winner.

Mount produced an outrageous defence-splitting pass in the 42nd minute of the match, and Havertz, Chelsea's most expensive player, rounded Ederson and slotted the ball into an empty net.

The footballing world was full of praise for Mount, with Ferdinand describing the pass as 'on the money'. "The way that Mason Mount turns on this ball, faces the game and just sees it." Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

"It’s a good run from Havertz, the ball from Mason Mount is absolutely on the money, but it’s lazy defending from Zinchenko."

Meanwhile, Fabregas, a former Blue, took to Twitter to post: "What a ball!!! @masnmount_10 that’s what I’m talking about."

Meanwhile, Chelsea held their nerves and defended Man City heroically after taking the lead to claim their second Champions League title.
