Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has issued a warning to their rivals as the Italian led the Los Blancos to his first trophy since returning to the Bernabeu as his side beat Athletic Club 2-0 in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday.
Goals from Luka Modric and Karim Benzema gave Madrid the win on the night despite them losing Eder Militao to a red card in the 87th minute. The Supercopa win was Ancelotti's fifth trophy with the Los Blancos, having won four honours in his previous spell with them.
The Italian has reiterated that he has no plans to relax in the weeks ahead, as he plots a possible quadruple for his squad in 2022. Madrid are five points clear at the top of La Liga, they are set to face Elche in the Copa del Rey in midweek, with a February date for their Champions League last 16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.
“We deserved this title, against a good Athletic team, it was another game which we controlled. I am very happy. We have a drive to continue on now. We don’t have much time to think, as another competition is coming around the corner. But I look at this team and I think we can fight against anyone," he said as per Marca.
It will be interesting to see whether Madrid can continue their good form as they head into the business end of the season and ensure that Ancelotti secures his first league title in Spain come the end of the campaign.
