Juventus defender, Leonardo Bonucci has dismissed comparisons between new signing, Dusan Vlahovic and footballing icon, Cristiano Ronaldo - claiming that the Serbian "needs time to make mistakes and improve."
Vlahovic who moved to Juventus from Fiorentina in a transfer worth €80million in January, scored on his Serie A debut against Hellas Verona while also netting in the just the first minute on his Champions League debut against Villarreal in the first leg of the round of 16 fixture on Tuesday.
“He needs time to make mistakes and improve. With Cristiano, we started every game from 1-0. He was giving energy and mentality to the group. He can’t be compared with Vlahovic who is a classic centre forward and is still very young," Bonucci said when asked about the new signing at a press conference.
The 34-year-old also opened up on his defensive partnership with Giorgio Chiellini for both club and country considering that the duo have formed one of the most iconic defensive partnerships in the history of Italian football over the last decade.
“The secret is the chemistry that one creates with time. We’ve played together for more than ten years. At some point, we’ve stolen each others’ secrets. I know what can happen when Giogio moves and the same goes for him."
The Bianconeri have not had the best of times in the Serie A this season, as they are currently placed fourth in the league table with 47 points from 26 games, nine behind table toppers, AC Milan.
