Bruno Alves believes Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Juventus for "one last assault on the Champions League" and rubbished rumours linking his Portugal teammate with an exit from the Old Lady.

Ronaldo is yet to win the Champions League during his time with the Serie A giants, who also lost the league title to Inter last season. The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man has been linked with a return to his former clubs this summer, but Alves is confident the 36-year-old will stay put in Turin.

Alves told Tuttosport on Ronaldo's future: "I haven’t talked about these things with him. My feeling is that in the end he will stay at Juve because he still has something to do: how to win the Scudetto back and try one last assault on the Champions League. Cristiano always wants to prove himself, he is a born winner."

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out a return to Spain for the Portuguese, and Ronaldo himself hit out at the rumours linking him with a Juventus. Alves added on that outburst: "There are always great rumours around him and they are often without foundation. He simply asked for some respect."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is in the final year of his contract and is yet to sign an extension, prompting rumours of an exit, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, if the Frenchman decides to join Real Madrid next summer.
