Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky scored an absolute howler of an own goal during his side's 2-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Hradecky produced a moment of madness as a backpass went horribly wrong and the Leverkusen 'keeper fluffed his clearance, passing the ball straight back into his own net.
Needless to say, Hradecky's own goal sent social media wild.
Speaking after the game, Hradecky said he expects to see plenty of memes and YouTube clips of his horror own-goal. “It’s okay if people laugh a little – there’ll be a few YouTube clips and a few memes,” Hradecky predicted.
Safe to say, he wasn't wrong.
Fortunately for Hradecky, his blushes were spared as Leverkusen's Aleksandar Dragovic scored in the 88th minute to seal the win. The relieved 30-year-old Finland goalkeeper hugged Dragovic in gratitude at the final whistle.
“The team and Dragovic helped me out – my beer will taste good after this,” added a relieved Hradecky.
