Barcelona have reportedly made initial contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a move for Neymar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Neymar has been constantly linked with a switch back to Camp Nou since signing for the Ligue 1 giants, and his future with PSG is far from certain with his contract expiring in the summer of 2022.

According to Spanish news outlet RAC1 (h/t SPORT), the 29-year-old has been identified as the number one target for Ronald Koeman's this summer over Borussia Dortmund star, Erling Haaland.

The report adds that Neymar is desperate for a return to Barcelona and will not demand any exorbitant salaries which could scupper a move. However, PSG have maintained that the Brazilian is "not for sale" and are confident of him signing a new deal.

When asked about his future in Paris ahead of the Champions League semi-final with Manchester City, Neymar said: "I have got time on my contract here at PSG. We want to do what is the best for everyone. I have already said that I am happy here and I feel much better than in the previous seasons."

However, Neymar's former agent Andre Cury admitted that a move back to Barcelona can never be ruled out for the 28-year-old. He told Argentine news outlet El Litoral in March: "Neymar has an open door at Barcelona, their fans knows he made a mistake and even he recognised it some time later."

Cury concluded, "Two years ago, Neymar formally asked me to return to Barcelona. We tried and we were really close to getting him out of Paris. But, because of some details, it didn't happen. Laporta is the only one who can bring them back together again. Messi won't leave Barcelona - he decided that his history is in Barcelona and I'm very clear on that. Neymar will play with Messi again, but in Barcelona."
