Arsenal have submitted a player-plus-cash bid for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison as Mikel Arteta's side aims to further bolster the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Arsenal, who have already signed Nuno Tavares from Benfica, Albert Sambi Lokonga from RSC Anderlecht and Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, are keen to add Maddison to their list of new arrivals.
Leicester City value Maddison, who has a contract with the club until 2024, at £60m, and with the Gunners unlikely to be able to stump up a cash-only deal for the England international, football.london report Arsenal and another unnamed London club have proposed a player-plus-cash deal.
Which player Arsenal - and the other unnamed Premier League outfit - have offered to Leicester City as a makeweight in the deal for Maddison, who is said to be 'top of the list for' Arteta, is not known at the moment. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah are all available for transfer this summer, and one of the club could be the player who has been offered to the Foxes, though, they are no confirmations on it.
Meanwhile, Maddison is said to be open to a move to the north London outfit, with The Guardian reporting the midfielder 'feels that moving to Arsenal would aid his development'.
However, it remains to be seen if Leicester will be open to a player-plus-cash deal, with Brendan Rodgers' side in no hurry to cash in on Maddison, who has three years remaining on his current contract.
