Argentina head coach, Lionel Scaloni has opened up on the country's talisman, Lionel Messi's move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer, revealing that "it doesn't change much for them".

PSG completed arguably the most-anticipated signing in football history when they brought in Messi for a free transfer on a two-year deal, with the option of extending it by another year.

Scaloni for his part in a press conference, reiterated that the most important thing for him was that the 34-year-old would feature for a top club in order to ensure that their icon would be competing at the highest level.

“As for preferences, it doesn’t change us much. We know that he is in one of the best clubs in Europe, that he is going to compete for the best and that is the most important thing.”

Messi made his debut for PSG over the weekend during their 2-0 win over Reims in the Ligue 1, with the superstar getting a taste of the football on offer. While he did not score on the night, he provided glimpses of his talent and will no doubt improve as his match-fitness improves.

The striker will get the much needed minutes under his belt as Argentina are set to play three CONMEBOL 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the space of eight days, including the game against rivals, Brazil - which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 2 September.
