Hours after being appointed as Tottenham boss, Antonio Conte shared an Instagram story that contained an Arsenal chant on his official channel.

Tottenham let go of Nuno Espirito Santo following a disappointing run of results that saw the north London club lose five of their last seven games, and most recently suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United over the weekend.

Conte was appointed in his stead and spent time interacting on social media with fans, sharing posts and responding to comments. But the Italian, or his social media team, made a fatal error of not checking a post before they shared it, and ended up sharing a rather embarrassing post.

One of the posts, from an account named Conte18900, simply shared a picture of Conte posing with the Spurs shirt. But when you turn on the volume, there is an Arsenal chant playing over the top; the Gunners' most famous chant claiming that they are "by far the greatest team the world has ever seen".

However, social media pranks are far from Conte's mind, who needs to bring the club back on track this season. Spurs were beaten 1-0 by minnows Vitesse in the Europa Conference League, and Conte's first task is a hoem clash with the Dutch this week.

"I have seen on Tuesday the training ground and I want to start work," he said during his first press conference. "I arrive at a top club. These situations push you and increase the desire to do something important for the fans of this club."

"My past, what I did with previous clubs, is important," he added. "I'm proud. For me, the new challenge is Tottenham. I want it to become an important part of my career as a manager."
