Newcastle United and England legend Alan Shearer says Cristiano Ronaldo looks to be back to his very best after he starred for Manchester United in the their 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The Red Devils had fallen to a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on matchday 9, and needed a response in their next game, which they produced, beating Spurs 3-0. Ronaldo put Man Utd ahead on 39 minutes with a stunning finish, and turned provider for the second of the night as he threaded the ball through the eye of needle to setup Cavani's goal.
Man Utd face defending champions and city rivals Manchester City in their next league fixture, and Shearer says Ronaldo looked to be back to his very best ahead of the Manchester derby.
"Back to his very best with a sublime volley when Man Utd needed him most. Not many players could have scored that. Also provided an assist for Cavani," Shearer said as he chose the Premier League Matchweek 10 Team of the Week.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo once again came to Man Utd's rescue earlier this week, as he scored twice to salvage a point for the Red Devils against Atalanta and boost their hopes of the Champions League round-of-16 qualification.
