The footballing world reacted with shock and disbelief following the news emerged on Thursday that Argentina icon, Lionel Messi will leave Barcelona after spending his entire professional career with the Catalan giants.
Despite Messi agreeing to a new five-year deal with the Catalan giants and agreeing to a 50 percent pay cut, the club president, Joan Laporta confirmed that they would unable to give him a new contract as they are not able to register the player due to the La Liga salary cap rules.
The 34-year-old is widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport and is without doubt the greatest player in Barcelona's illustrious history. The Argentinian has led the Catalan giants to numerous honours during his time at the Nou Camp and here we breakdown the trophies he has won at the club.
1. 10 LaLiga Titles
Messi made his senior debut for Barcelona in 2004 and it was in the 2004/05 season that he won his first LaLiga title and since then he has played a major role in nine more title wins.
The striker in total won 10 league titles with Barcelona, with the last one coming in 2018/19.
2. 4 Champions League Trophies
Barcelona had won only one Champions League trophy before the debut of Messi and he leaves the club taking their total tally to five. He won four UCL titles with the club, the first one coming in 2006 and the last win in the competition coming in 2015.
3. 7 Copa del Rey Honours
The Copa del Rey is an illustrious competition in Spain and Messi has been brilliant in it too, helping Barcelona win it seven times during his time at the Nou Camp.
He played a major role in their latest Copa del Rey win, which came last season.
4. 8 Supercopa (Spanish Super Cup) Honours
Contested by the winners and runners-up of the LaLiga and Copa del Rey, respectively - Messi won the tournament eight times, with his first trophy win coming in 2006.
5. 3 UEFA Super Cup Trophies
The UEFA Super Cup is a one-off game played between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League - with Messi coming in on the right side of the result three times in the colours of the Blaugrana.
His three Super Cup wins came in 2009, 2011 and 2015.

A tournament played between Champion club of various continents, the FIFA Club World Cup sees some of the best teams in the world face-off. Messi has been at his imperious in the tournament, winning it three times with Barcelona in 2009, 2011 and 2015.
