Former Tottenham defender, Sebastien Bassong, claims Harry Kane has been "criticised for no reason," claiming that the England international cannot possibly do more for his club and country. 


Kane's form and fitness have come into question after a tiring World Cup campaign, with many asking the player to take some time off to get rid of mental and physical fatigue. 


Bassong, however, believes Kane to be at his best and has asked his critics to be a bit patient. 


"He’s been criticised for no reason because that’s how football is," said Bassong, as quoted by ​Goal. 


"Harry’s been at the top now for the last few years, banging in goals week in and week out. He’s been a regular, he’s been playing the World Cup, he’s been captain at the World Cup."


"What else can you ask from Harry? He’s still young and I’m sure he’s still got a lot to do and he’s not going to disappoint you guys. So, what do I make of this criticism? I don’t make anything, honestly, I don’t even listen to them and I hope he doesn’t as well."


Amid all the talk about his form and fitness, Kane has continued banging in goals. With his double over the weekend, he now has five Premier League goals this term, just a goal shy of leading scorer, Eden Hazard.
