Manchester United suffered another away loss, this time to West Ham United at London Stadium. Jose Mourinho's team were never in the game and the loss followed a strange starting lineup that scratched heads of both the pundits and the fans.
Here are three things we learned from Manchester United's 3-1 loss to West Ham United.
3. Strange team selection
Jose Mourinho decided to go with three at the back, but went with Scott McTominay rather than a natural centre-back. The youngster played on the right side of the back three but it did not help United's cause. They were disjointed in the first half and barely made any incisive attacks, and only improved when they switched to four at the back in the second half. They didn't have Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard or Antonio Valencia either.
2. West Ham finding their feet
West Ham United started the season terribly, with four straight defeats, but since then have started doing better. They won one game and had a draw in the league, while putting eight past Macclesfield in the League Cup. West Ham seemed to be more assured on the ball than Manchester United, as shown with the early goal and the way they controlled the game.
1. Mourinho's time is running out
This is Manchester United's third defeat in the league this season already, and Mourinho is going into that territory when he was fired from Chelsea. Rumours have been going around that the club hierarchy are in talks with Zinedine Zidane and a defeat against Valencia in midweek or against Newcastle United on the weekend could spell the end of the road.
