Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets signed a new contract yesterday which will keep him at the Nou Camp until 2023, with a buyout clause of an insanely irrelevant €500m.
The Spanish midfielder's previous contract was up until 2021 but the Catalan giants decided to offer him a new improved deal to place him in the bracket with some of the top earners at the club, as a recognition to his service.

Thank you, Mr. President. The mission has been successfully completed. Only two years have passed and Lionel Messi will become history. History will remind you that in your reign Real Madrid won 5 champions and Messi retired and did not benefit from his tal

Do you know I look forward to @RealBetis games than @FCBarcelona, sometimes even @realmadriden these teams play the best football in the league, far better than barca...and believe me I ain't the only one feeling this way. Pls @jmbartomeu fix this mess..

You can sign the best players in the world, but as long as you have an average and tactically myopic manager like Valverde, we won't do shit! We will be lucky to win any trophy this season under Valverde. By end October, we'll be lucky to be in top 4 in the league

So we build a team for the future !!!!? Congratulations boss 😂😂😂 . When you want to build a team we build it with players we really need as De Light , De Jong , Pogba , Dolberg and not with 31 years old player with all my respect and love to Busquets .

He dosent know to tackle or cut the ball , dosent know how to shot or play long pass , he’s not on top 10 midfielders on the world , pirlo at age 36 still have better game statics than him
— 2.moro (@clue8888) September 27, 2018
Can he focus now that he got the huge money he asked for?
— Haitham Mattar (@HaithamMattar) September 27, 2018
extend all old players' contract
— solu (@chudnofskyis) September 27, 2018
let them take away youngsters' playing time
let them "walk" on pitch every game and still get paid big
let them hammered by the fast and strong and physical teams every year in ucl
We'll never win ucl again with this dead loop
30 y-o getting a FIVE year deal! Madness in this day and age. And the buyout clause is irrelevant

Busquets has made 490 appearances for Barca in all competitions since making his debut in 2008, meaning that he will soon become the seventh player to surpass 500 games for the club.
Over the past decade, Busquets has won seven La Liga titles, six Copas del Rey and three Champions League trophies, as well as numerous lesser honours.
While the announcement of Busquets' new deal is a timely bit of positive PR from Barcelona just a day after their shocking loss to Leganes. However, most fans were still angry and understood the logic behind making this announcement.
Barcelona will continue their La Liga journey as they take on Athletic Bilbao at home on Saturday.
