Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is mentally stronger than everybody else, after the Portuguese forward put aside his sending off in the Champions League to score the team's opening goal.

The Italian champions were in a tough game against Frosinone and could not find a way past them until Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 81st minute. Allegri said that despite the red card and the number of chances that Ronaldo missed, he had the mental strength to still finish late in the game.

"Cristiano Ronaldo had many chances and that happens because good balls always end to players that are able to score goals in the box," Allegri said, according to Goal.

"He missed some of these chances, in a few occasions he has been unlucky with the rebounds, but his strength is the fact that he is always into the match, even if he doesn't score straight away.

"And that's what happened because to score a goal like that towards the end means that he has a mentality stronger than the others."

It took Juventus the last 10 minutes of the game to find the opener before Federico Bernardeschi put the game to bed with a 90th minute goal. Juventus have continued with their winning run, having won all five games in the league so far, with Ronaldo scoring three goals for the team.

The 33-year-old will miss the next game in the Champions League group stage, and it remains to be seen if he will also miss the trip to Old Trafford against former club Manchester United.
