Real Madrid starlet, Marco Asensio, is not affected by the speculations whether he will win the Ballon d'Or in the future, claiming his undivided attention is on his performances.

Asensio scored the only goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over his former club, Espanyol, at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure to Juventus, Julen Lopetegui has used Asensio as a left-winger. And influenced by his performances, many are already tipping him to follow the great Portuguese's footsteps and win the Ballon d'Or in the future.

The Spaniard, however, remains unfazed by the noise.

"The Ballon d'Or? In the end, I dedicate myself and if it arrives, it will arrive," Asensio said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"We will see in the future."

Winning the coveted Ballon d'Or may not be on Asensio's mind right now, but he certainly has a favourite jersey number in mind. The youngster wants to don the number 10 for Madrid, a shirt currently possessed by World Cup Golden Ball winner Luka Modric.

"They haven't told me anything to change the number and that's why I haven't been able to decide either," he said.

"Ten is a number that I like, but it's in the hands of Modric. In the future, I would like it."

Asensio has started all of Madrid's five La Liga games this season, scoring 1 goal and assisting another.
