Dortmund play Club Brugge away at the Jan Breydel stadium on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
Dortmund are undoubtedly the favourites to win the match, and it's likely that nothing less than a win will do for the German side who have Atletico Madrid and Monaco to compete with for the group's top two spots.
Here are three key battles to watch out for in the match between Club Brugge and Dortmund.
3. Kaveh Rezaei vs Manuel Akanji
Club Brugge signed Iranian striker Kaveh Rezaei from Sporting Charleroi four games into the 2018/19 Belgian Jupiler League. Rezaei had already scored three times for Charleroi when he signed, and he has since scored his first goal for Club Brugge, in a 5-2 win away to Zulte Waregem.
Brugge manager Ivan Leko's preferred 3-5-2 formation sees Rezaei partnered with Brazilian Wesley Moraes up front. The Iranian is arguably Brugge's greatest goal threat which means it is up to Dortmund's centre-back Manuel Akanji, alongside Abdou Diallo, to keep Rezaei from scoring.
Goal difference is likely to be a big deciding factor by the end of Group A. Not conceding against Brugge and winning all three points is crucial for Dortmund, so Akanji's job in defence becomes all the more important in this match.
2. Jadon Sancho vs Stefano Denswil
Jadon Sancho is yet to start a game for Dortmund this season, but in the 96 Bundesliga minutes he's played in he has four assists to his name. He most recently assisted Marius Wolf's winner in Dortmund's 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Should he start against Club Brugge, who play with a 3-5-2 formation, he'll look to find space on the right wing behind Brugge's left-wing back. If he does find space, Sancho's pace and direct style of play will cause issues for Brugge's left-sided centre-back Stefano Denswil.
1. Maximilian Philipp vs Matej Mitrovic
Paco Alcacer replaced Philipp during Dortmund's recent match against Frankfurt, and the Spanish substitute went on to score his side's third goal of the game. On the other hand, Philipp is yet to score this season and it's likely Alcacer would have come in to replace Philipp for the game against Brugge.
It has since been confirmed, however, that Alcacer will miss the game through a muscle injury, meaning Philipp is set to start again for Dortmund.
Philipp will be desperate to score his first goal of the season, but Brugge's centre-back Matej Mitrovic will try to stand in his way in the hope of helping his side take something away from the match.
