Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur still hold the advantage in the top four race despite the Blues being just two points behind their London rivals.

Fabregas scored the winner against Swansea City on Saturday to take Chelsea within two points of Tottenham who have a game in hand. The north London side take on Watford tonight and will be looking to increase their lead over Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino's game in hand gives them the edge in the top four race and Fabregas believes that Tottenham are still well placed to finish above his side and qualify for the Champions League.

As reported by Sky Sports, Fabregas said, "We won, so they (Tottenham) will probably feel that they need to do well and not drop points anymore."

"But the advantage is for them because it's not up to us. Even if we win every game and they do well, we will not be in the Champions League next year, so that's why I would prefer to be in their position. We just have to keep on winning, but they obviously have the advantage because they are on top."

Despite not being at their best in the last few months, Chelsea have put together a winning run that has also seen them qualify for the FA Cup final.

Fabregas continued, "We have been winning games, not comfortably, and that is the most important thing. Sometimes when you are in a dip of form and you are struggling to get points, to win whatever it takes, to do it is always positive."

"I think we've been doing well that way, because every team we play is fighting for something. You could see that with Swansea and it will be the same when Huddersfield come to Stamford Bridge. We have had to dig in in certain moments and we are ready to do that."

Chelsea have won their last four matches in all competitions and are in a good position to take advantage if Tottenham slip up in the coming matches. The Blues are next in action against Liverpool next Sunday.
