Former Real Madrid ace, Jorge Valdano has heaped praise on Real Madrid's current sensation, Marco Asensio.

Valdano is particularly impressed with the calmness and the intelligence the youngster possesses and thinks he has a bright future ahead, reported Madrid based newspaper,  Marca.

"I like that type of player who is very smart and does the simple things well. I like him because he has a lot of personality and makes very little mistakes in his decisions. He's tremendously precise and accurate, " he said.

The youngster has been in sensational form over the last 12 months. After being discovered by an unlikely scout, Rafael Nadal, Real Madrid snatched the high-flying youngster from Mallorca in 2014.

He spent the next two seasons on loan and came back to Madrid in the hope of making it into the squad. The 21-year-old has always been an admirer of scoring from long distances

and has already scored some stunners, including the two he scored against Barcelona in the Spanish Supercup.

Coach Zinedine Zidane has been impressed by the midfielder and recognises the value he adds to the team. Cristiano Ronaldo, the traditional left winger of the side, was forced to sit out the first five games this campaign due to suspension, handing Asensio the chance to impress and he has taken the chance with both hands.

With Ronaldo back into the fold from the next match, it'll be interesting to see how the Real Madrid squad shapes up against Betis, tonight.
