Real Madrid announced on their official website that terms on a contract extension have been agreed upon between the club and Spanish defender Dani Carvajal.
The club statement said, "Real Madrid C. F. and Dani Carvajal have agreed an extension to the player's contract, binding him to the club until the 30th of June 2022."
Madrid further announced that Carvajal will be appearing in a press conference at the Santiago Bernabeu at 2:00pm CEST.
This comes as welcome news for Real Madrid fans as they now have the defensive capabilities of Carvajal on display for a long time to come.
The Spaniard has thrived under the leadership of French manager and Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane and will look forward to make the new season, yet another successful one.
Carvajal started out at Real Madrid as a youngster when he joined the club in 2002. He made 68 appearances for the Real Madrid B team between 2010-12. The club then sold Carvajal in July 2012 for €5m to Bayer Leverkusen which also included a buy-back clause.
The Los Blancos eventually exercised their buy-back clause on 3rd June 2013 and signed Carvajal back for €6.5m.
At the age of 25, Carvajal has already won three UEFA Champions Leagues, one Spanish La Liga trophy, one Spanish Cup, one Spanish Super Cup, two FIFA Club World Cups, one Euro U-21 Championship and three UEFA Super Cup honors in his career till date.
