Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah has been voted the UEFA Champions League player of the week for his impressive performance against Sevilla at Anfield this week.

Although the match ended in a frustrating 2-2 draw for Liverpool, Salah was named as part of the Champions League team of the week yesterday.

Salah was part of a public poll in which he competed against Lionel Messi, Neymar, Romelu Lukaku, James Rodriguez, Harry Kane, Taison and Cristiano Ronaldo and the audience voted for the Liverpool man amid all those star studded names.

The Egyptian collected 51% of the votes on UEFA's official website to claim the prize after a deflected goal against Sevilla capped off an impressive overall performance by the Liverpool man.

While Salah played quite well against the Spanish side, it is suspected that his crazy fan-base in Egypt is considered responsible for him leading the way. Lionel Messi scored two goals against last season's Champions League finalists, Juventus while Cristiano Ronaldo scored a couple on his return from a ban whereas Harry Kane grabbed a brace against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
