Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez will snub Spanish giants Real Madrid for rivals Manchester City claims the Mirror, with the Chilean keen to re-unite with former boss Pep Guardiola.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on getting the striker to the Bernabeu, putting him on their list of transfer targets with the boss reportedly worried about the lack of back-up to Karim Benzema in attack.

The 28-year-old who's contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the season, has refused to sign a new deal with the intention of moving on either in January or in the summer. He will snub the Los Blancos for Manchester City and was almost on his way to the Etihad in the summer after the Citizens launched a £50m bid for him on transfer deadline day.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen for Sanchez to stay but knows that it is inevitable that he will move on. Despite this, the Frenchman is backing the Chilean to lead them back into the Champions League next season with Sanchez arguably their most important player at present.

The forward has scored 73 goals in 147 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions since moving from Barcelona in 2014, winning two FA Cup trophies so far.
