It is not unusual to judge a goalkeeper in terms of number of goals conceded, but there are various other statistics too. Penalties are a part of game and very few times only goalkeepers are able to save them which involves huge amount of skill and luck.


Here, we look at top five goalkeepers in Premier League who have saved the most number of penalties.

5. Joe Hart - 5

The two-time Premier League winner has made around 303 top-flight appearances for Manchester City, Birmingham City and West Ham United combined. The 30-year-old England number one has saved five penalties in his 11 years in the Premier League.



4. Petr Cech - 6

The former Chelsea shot-stopper who has won four Premier League titles has saved six penalties in his 14 years in the top flight which has seen him make over 403 appearances for Chelsea and Arsenal combined.


Cech is still going strong despite being 35 and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

3. Ben Foster - 7

The 34-year-old English goalkeeper has made seven saves from the penalty spot in the premier league which has seen him make around 289 top-flight appearances divided among his current-club West Bromwich Albion and former clubs Watford, Birmingham City and Manchester United in over 12 years in England.

2. Simon Mignolet - 9

The heavily criticized Belgian Simon Mignolet has made a total of 226 top flight appearances for Liverpool and former-club Sunderland. The 29-year-old shot-stopper has made nine saves from the spot in over seven years in England, with most recent save coming in Liverpool's champions league play-offs.

1. Heurelho Gomes - 11

Hurelho Gomes has been in the Premier League for around nine years, during which he has made over 200 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and Watford for who he is playing currently.


Gomes has saved 11 penalties during this time and is comfortably placed on the number one spot in this list.
