The Premier League is widely considered to be the best and most competitive league in the world, with it playing host to some of the greatest ever players in modern day history. However, for a number of them who do go on to shine in England, there are some who fail to adjust to the pace and power of football in the country.

Here, we take a look at five top players who could decide to cut their losses and make a move in the January transfer window.

1. Dele Alli

If there is one player in the Premier League whose reputation has plummeted then it is Dele Alli as the midfielder has looked a pale imitation of the player he was under Mauricio Pochettino for several years now.

The 25-year-old has managed to score only five goals in the past two seasons and despite his decline in form, he wouldn't be short of suitors should Tottenham Hotspur decide to sell him in January.

2. Anthony Martial

Another young player who has failed to perform in recent times has been Anthony Martial and his agent has confirmed that the player wants to leave Manchester United in January.

Injuries have plagued the Frenchman during his time with the Red Devils, though there is no doubt regarding his talent and at 26-years-old he is young enough to make an impact at another club.

3. Dean Henderson

Dean Henderson returned to Manchester United last season after starring for Sheffield United on loan for two years and it was understood that the club management were looking towards the future and would make him their number one in goal.

However, David de Gea's upturn in form has meant that he has struggled for gametime and another short-team switch could appeal to the 24-year-old considering that it looks unlikely that he will be given time on the pitch in the remainder of the season.

4. Harry Winks

January will mark the first transfer window for Antontio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur and while he will look to buy new players, he also needs to sell some - which could mean that Harry Winks is at borrowed time at the club.

The 25-year-old has struggled for gametime at Tottenham and with Newcastle United understood to be interested in signing him, he might just be sold in order to clean out the squad.

5. Nathan Ake

Many were surprised when Manchester City paid around £41million for Nathan Ake, but as predicted he has got lost among the defensive talents present at the Etihad.

West Ham United have reportedly inquired about the player as they require defensive cover, with it being understood that City would not be opposed to letting him leave should they receive an offer.
