Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and are one of the most successful ones in the Premier League. The Red Devils have dominated the footballing sphere in the past and while they are going through a poor run off late, they are still a club to be feared at a global level.

The club over time has seen a number of top players represent them and here, we take a look at the five players who have scored the most goals for the Red Devils in the 21st century.

1. Wayne Rooney - 253 goals in 559 games

United's all-time record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney will go down as one of the best strikers to come from England and perhaps does not get the credit he deserves when it comes to ranking the greatest strikers in Premier League history.

The striker moved to Old Trafford when he was just 18-years-old and immediately proved his mettle, ending his stint with them after 13 years, with 253 goals to his name.

2. Ruud van Nistelrooy - 150 goals in 219 games

Ruud van Nistelrooy moved to Old Trafford from PSV in 2001 and during his time in England, there was no better goalscorer as seen by the 150 goals he scored in just 219 games for the club.

The Dutchman established himself as a key part of the United side, winning the Golden Boot in the 2002/03 season.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo - 118 goals in 292 games

Cristiano Ronaldo established himself as an icon at United, and he was undoubtedly their talisman, especially in the latter part of his time at Old Trafford.

It was at United that the Portugese star become a world-class player and he returns to the club as a legend at the age of 36.

4. Paul Scholes - 102 goals in 509 games

Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all-time, Paul Scholes spent his entire career at United - making 509 appearances in the 21st century, while scoring 102 goals.

In total, the legendary midfielder made 718 appearances for the club, scoring 155 appearances, winning 25 trophies.

5. Ryan Giggs - 89 goals in 586 games

Another player who spent his entire professional career with United, Ryan Giggs is one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League, with the winger putting in consistent performances on a regular basis.

The Welshman scored 168 goals for United, of which 89 came in the 21st century.
