A Twitter user markwhite who writes for FourFourTwo, recently started a thread where gave some interesting football facts, some of which were extremely interesting and intriguing.

Here, we give you five of them.

1. Franz Beckenbauer and Bayern Munich

German and Bayern Munich legend, Franz Beckenbauer once threatened the Bundesliga authorities that he would move the club and make them join the Serie A.

This came in 2003 after the league authorities threatened to dock points from the club for a controversial marketing deal.

2. Javier Mascherano

Javier Mascherano who played for the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona during his career, made his international debut before his club debut.

The midfielder made his Argentina debut against Uruguay in July, 2003 - post which he made his club debut for River Plate a few days later.

3. Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid in 2013 and since then he won a trophy every season until 2020/21. This was when he was on loan at Spurs, which means that his first trophyless season since leaving the English club was when he returned to them.

4. Alessandro Nesta

Widely considered to be one of the greatest defenders in football history, Alessandro Nesta in 2005 suffered one of the most bizarre injuries ever. The Italian was out of action for a month or so after injuring his thumb while playing PlayStation.

5. David Beckham and David Moyes

David Beckham and David Moyes actually played together for Preston North End, with this coming after the England legend was sent on loan to Preston in 1994.

This meant that he played with Moyes who was 12 years older than him.
