The Indian Super League (ISL) since it's inception in 2014 has helped change the way football is run in India, with the league not only promoting the sport in the country but also helping bring in youngsters and give them an experience while rubbing shoulders with international stars.

There have been a number of top Indian goalscorers in the league's history and here, we take a look at five of the highest Indian goalscorers in the competition.

1. Sunil Chhetri - 47 goals in 94 games

It comes as no surprise that India's biggest footballing superstar, Sunil Chhetri tops the goalscoring list with the striker netting 47 goals in 94 games in the ISL so far.

The 37-year-old who currently plays for Bengaluru City FC in the league has won the tournament once so far and will no doubt add to his tally in the upcoming season.

2. Jeje Lalpekhlua - 24 goals in 76 games

The record goalscorer for Chennaiyin in the ISL, Jeje Lalpekhlua has been a regular presence in the league, playing for the likes of Mohun Bagan in addition to Chennaiyin in the past.

The 30-year-old who has scored 24 goals in the ISL, has not had the best of times on the pitch in the recent past and it will be interesting to see whether he can return to his best this season.

3. Lallianzuala Chhangte - 19 goals in 78 games

Lallianzuala Chhangte is known for speed and pace on the ball, with the winger even impressing when it comes to having an eye for goal as seen by the 19 goals he has scored in the ISL so far.

He is only 24-years-old and looking at his performances for Chennaiyin over the past two seasons, he will definitely move up this list in the future.

4. CK Vineeth - 13 goals in 60 games

A well travelled striker in the Indian football circuit, CK Vineeth has played for a number of clubs in the league in the past and has so far netted 13 goals in 60 appearances in the ISL.

The 33-year-old moved to East Bengal in the 2020/21 season, but made only two appearances for them last season.

5. Jackichand Singh - 13 goals in 91 games

A winger by trade Jackichand Singh has impressed on a regular basis in the ISL, and like the others on the list he has played for a number of clubs in the competition.

While 13 goals might not be a high figure, Singh also does provide assists that helps his fellow strikers.
