Having a world class goalkeeper is very key for any side who look to compete for silverware, with history showing us that most of the successful ones having a brilliant shotstopper in their starting XI.
However, there are a number of clubs who have a number of goalkeepers in their side, and here we take a look at five of them in Europe.
1. Paris Saint-Germain - 8
Paris Saint-Germain recently completed the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan, which has taken the number of goalkeepers in their squad to eight.
They have most amount of goalkeepers in Europe and it will be interesting to see how Mauricio Pochettino manages them next season, considering that he has the likes of Keylor Navas competing to be the number 1.
2. AS Roma - 6
AS Roma signed Rui Patricio from Wolves earlier in July to take the number of goalkeepers in their side to six. They also have a new manager in Jose Mourinho, who is not known to rotate goalkeepers and will need to manage them accordingly.
3. Ajax - 5
Dutch giants, Ajax have five goalkeepers in their squad with their number 1, Andre Onano currently suspended until November 4, 2021 due to a doping ban.
However, they have the likes of Martin Stekelenburg and Remko Pasveer, who are experienced professionals and could be called upon to keep in goal.
4. Fiorentina - 5
Fiorentina are a surprising name on the list considering that they have not been successful in the recent past and they are another club who have five goalkeepers in their squad.
Bartlomiej Dragowski is the highest valued goalkeeper in the squad and he will most likely be their regular starter.
5. Inter Milan - 5
The reigning Serie A champions, Inter Milan too have five goalkeepers in their squad, with Samir Handanovic playing a key role in their title triumph last season.
Despite his brilliance in goal, Handanovic is currently 37-years-old and it will be interesting to see how long he remains the number one for the club, considering that there are other players waiting in the wings.
