The 2020/21 season has been a packed and disrupted one cause by the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, with a number of leagues seeing unexpected results with some big clubs struggling due to injuries amid the packed schedule.

Despite this, there have been some clubs in Europe who have been at their usual, solid self both in front of goal and at the back. Here, we take a look at five clubs who have conceded the fewest goals in the top five leagues of Europe in 2020/21.

1. Atletico Madrid (Spain) - 6 goals conceded

After a poor 2019/20 campaign, Atletico Madrid have hit back in style this season with Diego Simeone's men finding themselves at the top of the LaLiga table. Key to that has been their defence especially goalkeeper, Jan Oblak who is without doubt the best shotstopper in the world as seen by the six goals he has conceded so far.

2. Paris Saint-Germain (France) - 11 goals conceded

Paris Saint-Germain have dominated domestic football for almost a decade now and while their attack has been the focal point, there is no doubt that their defence is one of the best in Europe. Despite losing Thiago Silva to Chelsea last summer, the backline led by Marquinhos have been brilliant this season.

Goalkeeper, Keylor Navas too deserves a lot of the credit, and it still does not make sense why Real Madrid let him go.

3. RB Leipzig (Germany) - 12 goals conceded

RB Leipzig have emerged as one of new challengers for the Bundesliga titles in recent times and much of that credit should go to their defence. The Germans have young superstar, Dayot Upamecano in their ranks - with the 22-year-old emerging as a target for a number of top European clubs.

4. Manchester City (England) - 13 goals conceded

Ruben Dias' arrival in the summer has greatly benefitted Manchester City as he has quickly become their leader at the back. The return to form of the forgotten John Stones has come as a surprise, with the defender impressing so much that he has kept Aymeric Laporte on the bench.

In Ederson, the Cityzens have one of the best goalkeepers in the world and now they look like the favourites to win the league title.

5. Lille (France) - 14 goals conceded

A surprise club makes this list in the form of Lille who have impressed greatly this season, with the French club currently placed third in the Ligue 1 table. Christophe Galtiers men have only conceded 14 goals in 19 games so far, the second best in the league.
