Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has described Gunners midfielder Mesut Ozil as a player "from another planet" following his mid-week performance in the Champions League.

The German international scored arguably one of the goals of the tournament with a sublime finish to complete a fantastic comeback from 2-0 down to beat Ludogorets 3-2, having lobbed the keeper and rounded two defenders to slot the ball calmly into the net with minutes remaining.

This followed his hat-trick in Europe the week before at the Emirates Stadium during Arsenal's 6-0 demolition of the same opponents in north London, taking his tally to seven goals and three assists in 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

And Nicholas, now a Gillette Soccer Saturday pundit, has described the 28-year-old's technique to Sky Sports as "wonderful", and suggesting he is by far and away the best player in the Arsenal squad right now.

"He comes from another planet that no other Arsenal player has found yet," said Nicholas.

“He’s got loads of good talent and loads of good movement. Ozil was absolutely wonderful.

"He proved his point against Chelsea [in a 3-0 win] when they had stumbled for so long against Chelsea. He was a big player and scored a goal that day.”

Ozil will be looking to continue his fine form in front of goal in Sunday's north London clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium, as well as take Arsenal's unbeaten run to 10 in the Premier League this season.
