Eredivisie winger Jarchinio Antonia picked up a mad red card deep into stoppage time when his Go-Ahead Eagles team were beaten by FC Twente over the weekend.

The game had already gone beyond the allotted three minutes of additional time and Antonia's side were two goals down. It was basically over.

But as the ball rolled towards the corner flag, the Amsterdam-born Curacao international launched an ill-advised challenge on his opponent. Both feet were off the ground and he caught both of the Twente player's legs in the tackle.

The contact wasn't particularly hard but it could have caused serious injury and the referee quickly ran over brandishing a red card for the two-footed horror challenge.

Antonia, knowing what he had done, was already protesting his innocence before the card arrived and looked clearly disappointed, either with the decision or his own actions, as he trudged from the field in the city of Deventer, only moments before the rest of his team.
